Savannah Duncan
Program Liaison
Savannah has lived in San Antonio all her life. She is working to one day become a Registered Nurse and is currently attending classes to achieve that goal. She has worked in the service industry for eight years. She credits herself with attending schools at every socio-economic level, from elite private schools to deprived public schools. These experiences have led to a greater understanding of San Antonio's culture and a passion for bettering the community that shaped who she is.
Renata Garza
Program Liaison
Renata Garza is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education from San Antonio College. She has over 6 years of work experience as a retail cashier and customer service representative. Renata serves as a Young Minds Matter (YMM) Program Liaison during her Americorps Vista term.
Mark Martinez
Communications Specialist
Mr. Martinez has worked in non-profits on and off since the age of 15. He was a Public Ally through Americorp in the 2008-2009 year. He is currently undergoing his second year as an Americorp member through the Vista program. He has worked in a Christian school called Christian Military Academy as a Study Skills teacher and a Training Instructor. He has also worked for Making Connections-San Antonio (an initiative through the City of San Antonio) as a Case Manager and a Community Resource liaison for residents living in the Edgewood Independent School District. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio and has a degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations.
Regina Maspero
Community Garden/Project Measure Up Coordinator
Regina is currently serving in her third term under the AmeriCorps VISTA program. She served in the inaugural Class of Public Allies- San Antonio, working as the Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization Program Assistant for the Avenida Guadalupe Association. Most recently, she completed her second year of service under the VISTA program at Texas Lutheran University’s “Partnership for a Better Seguin”, where she worked in community organizing. During her years of service she completed her Associates of Applied Science in Criminal Justice at San Antonio College and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas State University. Regina is a hard-working citizen with excellent critical and creative thinking skills. Regina continues to effectively contribute to the sustainable development and welfare of resilient communities and is a person who can strategically and tactically plan and organize in the process of meeting people. Regina prides herself on being able to work though chaotic situations and is fantastic about keeping her head well above the fray of organizational, neighborhood and community politics while effectively making good things happen. As an AmeriCorps VISTA worker, wife, mother of 7, and a full-time student, she has become very successful in charting herself and those with whom she works through difficult waters. She and her family believe in education, and are all working hard to increase their knowledge of ecological systems and sustainable and resilient processes toward quality life for all. Regina will continue to be effective as a builder of a conserving and sustainable community in her works with the Health Collaborative and her various undertakings in the future.
Aurora Wood
Volunteer Coordinator
Ms. Wood is currently serving The Health Collaborative as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. She has earned a Bachelor's degree in Health, with a specialization in Community Health from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has plans to pursue a Master of Public Health degree in the near future. Prior to joining The Health Collaborative, Ms. Wood worked in a variety of fields, with several years of experience in both medical and legal offices. Ms. Wood has also been dedicated to community service since a young age, volunteering with an assortment of agencies and organizations over the years, from SAMMinistries to the San Antonio Food Bank.
