Project Measure Up

Project Measure Up
Active Children

The Health Collaborative has developed a youth overweight and obesity project called Project Measure Up (PMU). PMU serves as a resource to Bexar County independent school districts (ISDs) in implementing Senate Bill 530.

Project Measure Up seeks to support school districts in maximizing community resources available to them by facilitating a collaborative model comprised of the Youth Obesity Prevention Partners Council and the School Volunteer Corps. These two groups will work hand-in-hand to ensure that the ISDs receive the resources needed to fulfill federal and state mandates. The goal is to create streamlined programming and maximized resources for school districts to utilize.

Benefits of Project Measure Up:

  • Streamlined services across ISDs for maximized resources and impact on youth obesity.
  • Access to free local volunteers in completing the FitnessGram assessment in grades 3 through 12.
  • Tangible incentives to support school district infrastructure.
  • Web access to catalogue of local obesity prevention programs and existing policies adopted by each ISD for best practices research.
  • Will allow ISDs to meet federal and state mandates for youth obesity prevention activities in schools.
  • Direct access to comprehensive obesity prevention programming and resources.
