Project Measure Up

School Health Coordinator Coalition (SHCC)

The School Health Coordinator Coalition (SHC) will be comprised of two representatives from each participating school district. The coalition member will be the administrator for the district’s school health programs, as well as a mental health counselor for the district, or other district-level staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as liaison between council and respective school district
  • Contribute approximately two hours per month as a coalition member
  • Work collaboratively with Youth Obesity Prevention Partners Council to identify gaps in existing programming and identify program and funding needs
  • Keep PMU staff, coalition and council members abreast of district (mental, physical and nutritional) health programs and policies
  • Provide necessary information for random sampling of students as described in district-level Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
  • Facilitate the MOU process between the PMU and the ISD Superintendent
  • Secure onsite school visits (elementary, middle and high schools) within respective district to collect anthropometric measures from identified sample
  • Serve as program advocate for Project Measure Up and promote health program participation utilizing program marketing materials throughout respective ISD
  • Assist PMU staff in determining district level incentives over time

Deliverables:

  • Identify and provide the PMU staff with a list of current programs implemented at respective school district
  • Provide updates of any ISD policy changes
  • Keep district level staff abreast of coalition efforts and programs
  • Attend all 12 coalition meetings throughout the year or secure a representative to attend the meeting in member’s absence
  • Incorporate and provide program indicators for outcome measures
  • Ensure that any marketing or promotional materials are distributed to the appropriate district level publicity personnel throughout the district
  • Be instrumental in securing district level meetings or board meetings as appropriate
  • Network PMU with appropriate SHAC
  • Obtain signed MOU
